Macher Kaliya


Ingredient:

1) Rohu Mach - 5-6 Pieces.








2) Potato - 1 Big. ( Cut into half moon shape)








3) Onion Chopped - 2 Medium.









4) Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp.











5) Green Chilly - 2 Nos Cut into Lengthwise.









6) Tomato Chopped - 1 Big.










7) Turmeric Powder - 1 Tsp.









8) Red Chilly Powder - 11/2 Tsp.











9) Coriander Powder - 2 Tsp.








10)Cumin Powder - 1 Tsp.









11) Cloves - 4 Nos.









12) Cinnamon Stick - 2 Small Pieces.







13) Green Cardamom - 4 Nos.









14) Bay Leaf- 1 No.









15) Salt To Taste.











16) Sugar -  1/4 Tsp.








17) Coriander Leaves Chopped - 3 Tbsp.








18) Mustard Oil - 6 Tbsp.











19) Water as required.









FOR THE PACH MISHAL  MASALA

1)  Black Mustard - 2 Tsp.











2) Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp.











3) Fennel Seeds - 11/2 Tsp.









4)Fenugreek  Seeds - 1/4 Tsp.











5) Onion seeds ( kalijeera) - 1/2 Tsp.








Dry roast the seeds and make a fine powder. keep this aside.

Procedure:

1) Marinate the Fish with turmeric and salt. Shallow fry the fish pieces both side equally. Keep it aside.

2)  In the same pan also fry the potato pieces until light golden color. Keep it aside.

3) Now in the same pan add 3 Tbsp of Mustard oil , heat the oil until smoking point , now slow done the heat and add pinch of sugar, bay leaf, green cardamom, cinnamon and clove.

4) After few seconds when the aroma comes out add chopped onion and pinch of salt, saute until onion change its color , then add ginger garlic paste.

5) Saute until rawness of ginger and garlic goes off ,now add chopped tomato mix it well and cover it for few mins in low heat.

6) When the tomato becomes pulpy and all the dry spices except garam masala . Saute the masala until it oozes out oil then add two cups of water and salt . Cover it for few mins .

7) Now add green chilly,  fried potato and fish pieces along with 1 tsp of PACH MISHAL  MASALA. Mix it well cover for 5-7 mins in medium heat.

8) When the potato are done add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves. Switch  off the Gas , serve hot with plain rice along with some salad.
